Khwarizmiat is a feminist initiative building autonomy, decentralization, and privacy into how our communities understand and use technology, in Arabic, for the Arabic-speaking Global South.

Breaking the monopoly of technical knowledge held in the Global North, and in the hands of dominant groups defined by gender, sexuality, ethnicity, or class.
Privacy & integrity
Understanding the value of data, choosing how to share it consciously, and confronting the censorship, exploitation, and weaponization of data that activists and human rights defenders face across the WANA region.

Who we are
We are a group of young feminists based in Jordan striving to understand and produce collective knowledge about technology, how it works, and how to access its tools freely, away from monopoly and knowledge hegemony, through an anti-colonial and intersectional feminist perspective. We aim to disseminate this knowledge among marginalized groups and individuals in our contexts within the Arabic-speaking Global South in Arabic, through our commitment to three fundamental principles around which our work revolves: autonomy, decentralization, and privacy.
